JScreen is a non-profit, community-based public health initiative dedicated to preventing Jewish genetic diseases and promoting healthy families.
JScreen provides access to an easy-to-use at-home saliva test that gives people who want to have children an unprecedented understanding of their own genetic information and associated risks as they relate to family planning.
Headquartered in Atlanta at Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Human Genetics, the JScreen initiative is a collaboration between clinical geneticists, socially-minded businesses and non-profits to provide everyday people with a ready access point to cutting-edge genetic technology, patient education and genetic counseling services. It’s so sad imagine a couple that wanted to have a family and been noticed they charge a malfunctioning gen (15 cromosome) that are only on too small group of genetic descendance (Askenazi and West Europe, etc) that practicly makes that every biologic child they wanna have will die by a non-cure disease like Tay Sachs.
I’m going to have a BRCA test done. I have a swollen lymph node in my inguinal area that I’m also going to have checked via ultrasound. I’m not Jewish but I live in Israel 💙
